Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a massive game with hundreds of unlockable characters, countless secrets to discover, and dozens of large areas to explore at your leisure. To make your time with the game easier and more efficient, here are our important tips that you should definitely implement to make playing The Skywalker Saga that much simpler.
Make sure to read through our Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga review so you’re ready for launch.
So Anyway, I Started Blastin’
Throughout The Skywalker Saga you will be dealing with constant waves of enemies. The most efficient way to deal with them is to use your ranged weapon, in most cases your blaster. Shooting off the helmet of Stormtroopers will uncover their one weakness, the head. Taking an extra second to aim for headshots will inflict a critical hit, taking them out. Be careful though, as some enemy Stormtroopers cannot have their helmets knocked off, and always take the opportunity to aim for the head. Battles will be much faster if you shoot your way through rather than using melee combat as long as you use a character with a blaster equipped.
If cover – like a bench – is available, use that to defend yourself while you shoot at foes. Benches can be destroyed, so take care your cover is not ruined by enemy firepower. If your cover is destroyed, build it again and you will receive Studs upon completion. Protection and cash? No-brainer. Another no-brainer is aiming for those headshots.
Strike Me Down?
When using a character such as Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon Jinn in levels, where blasters are prohibited, you can throw your lightsaber at enemies. When aiming with your lightsaber with the left trigger, hover your crosshair over multiple enemies to lock on to them. Throw your lightsaber with the right trigger, and it will slash through your selected horde of enemies in a few seconds. You rarely want to use melee combat generally, when fighting enemies. If you have no choice, use jumping or aerial attacks to deal powerful area damage, knocking back enemies. Airborne attacks are also proficient in destroying multiple breakable objects at once to collect those sweet Studs.
Easy Kyber Bricks
Each sector around a planet has one Kyber Brick Comet. Destroying a Kyber Brick Comet with your starship will give you five Kyber Bricks to upgrade whatever you like. Even though only one Kyber Brick Comet is available in each sector, you can still travel to destroy Stud Comets. Stud Comets will grant players more than 20,000 Studs per comet, and are great for farming the game’s main currency in a short amount of time. Upgrade your ship’s weapon damage to take these comets out even faster.
Don’t be hesitant to purchase Rumors. Rumors start at 30,000 Studs, but can open up in-game tips, advice, markers, and challenges with the promise of earning Kyber Bricks or even unlockable characters. Upgrading Scoundrel’s Business Opportunist in Upgrades will provide a discount on the purchase of Hints and Rumors.
Must-Have Upgrades
There are dozens of unique types of upgrades, from making blaster shots bounce off surfaces or penetrate enemies, to earning Studs upon puzzle completion or countering an enemy, and even making Stud collecting easier by upgrading Stud Collector.
There are a few upgrades that you should at least unlock the first tier of. Be sure to focus on maxxing these as priority, whenever you have the Kyber Bricks and Studs to spend.
Speedy Sprint will allow you to run faster. This makes traversal easier on large open areas will get you to your destinations more quickly, saving you an enormous amount of time.
Collectible Detector will highlight important collectibles on the map. Upgrading it completely will allow known locations of Minikits, Ships, Kyber Bricks, and Datacards.
Extra Health will add an extra health bar or, if you decide to turn on regenerative health in the Accessibility menu, your health will regenerate faster. It has only one Upgrade available, so it is a great investment compared to many other upgrades that have three tiers until max level. Anything that keeps you alive longer is good!
These are the most important upgrades to start with, and you can diversify with other upgrades such as faster climbing or combat abilities such as the mastery of the force. Your priority should be Speedy Sprint, Collectible Detector, and Business Opportunist. You can start upgrading Attract Studs from Core Upgrades and Expert Climber from Scavenger once those are done.
Main Story or Exploration?
Since this is a Lego game, you’re better off finishing the main levels without too much exploration first. A lot of secrets in levels cannot be discovered without using specific characters, so going through the story levels with very little dawdling will allow you to return and explore much more thoroughly with other characters later on. You do not want to be in the middle of a puzzle or quest, just to find out you do not have the specific character needed to complete the quest.
Play at your own pace, and do not be afraid to explore. Sometimes, switches will even need three or even four party members to activate, so you will be better off replaying the level in Free Play to easily switch between characters you have unlocked or bought from DLC.
Puzzled
You will be tasked with completing different types of puzzles. Some are memory puzzles to press the buttons shown previously, some are grabbing and pushing large items into corresponding slots, or using force powers to fix what was broken.
An example of one of the more difficult puzzle types is, where you will be rotating a dial to match. When trying to rotate the different dials, your main priority should be making the semi-circles into full circles. Start with the inner-most ring on these puzzles first, lining it up accordingly. Then swap to the outer-most ring and line that up. Approaching this puzzle type in that order will always lead you to the solution quickly. Upgrading Astromech Socket Master will even grant Studs upon each puzzle completed.
Completing the first episode of each trilogy before delving into the other episodes will set you up with enough characters of each type that you can Free Play previous levels to accomplish any character-specific tasks you might’ve missed, and is a great way to approach the game for completionists.
